Goblins Knob – a drop of magic in Second Life world
Our adventure through the enchanting realms of Second Life unfolds further as we explore even more extraordinary destinations. I recently visited Goblins Knob, a homestead region where time seems to stand still, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in its beauty and charm conceived by Tolia and brought to life by Dandy Warhlol (Terry Fotherington).
Goblins Knob draws inspiration from the historic charm of 1666 Pudding Lane in London, before the great fire. Picture this: as dawn approaches, you experience a serene stillness and a gentle mist that gently cradles the world around you. Nature, dressed in shades of gray, whispers quietly, weaving a mystical atmosphere. As first light breaks, Spiderwick makes his appearance, accompanied by Bogarts, Goblins and tales of dark Pixie Yarns. The cobbled streets glisten under the early morning dew, and the ancient pillars cast a soft, golden glow that seems to dance with the mist. Enchanted showcases are full of curiosities, their windows displaying an array of magical artefacts. The smell of freshly baked pastries mingles with the earthy aroma of herbs from a nearby shop, inviting visitors to stop and savor the moment. Welcome into the world of magic!

Goblins Knob was opened 2 years ago for Christmas, as a special venue at Frogmore. The inspiration behind Goblins Knob has been “The Shambles” in York, England. This historic street, with its current buildings and layout dating back to the 13th century, offers a glimpse into medieval life. “The Shambles” is renowned for its charmingly narrow cobbled streets lined with overhanging timber-framed buildings, creating an atmosphere of old-world magic, deep mystery and intrigue. This iconic scene also served as the inspiration for “Diagon Alley” in the Harry Potter movies, adding to its enchanting allure and historical significance.

A bit of RL background
In the early hours of Sunday 2 September 1666, a small fire started at Thomas Farriner’s bakery in Pudding Lane. The fire quickly spread towards the warehouses on the Thames before a strong wind spread the flames along the riverfront and further into the City. The fire raged for five days and nights destroying 13,200 houses, 87 churches, three City gates and 52 livery halls. All in all, four-fifths of the City was in ruins. From the first sparks to the last ashes, this trail brings together the story of the most famous fire in history.
J.K. Rowling’s Diagon Alley
In the Harry Potter movies, Diagon Alley serves as a gateway to the magical world, offering viewers a glimpse into the everyday life of wizards and witches. Its detailed and imaginative depiction captures the essence of J.K. Rowling’s universe, making it an iconic and unforgettable part of the Harry Potter experience.

Goblins Knob in second Life is the place where the ordinary meets the extraordinary, where you are enveloped by magic and mystery from the very first step once you land here and you truly feel teleported to a world far from what we know. Exploring this place will make you feel as if you are one of the characters from the Harry Potter`s chapters so masterfully written by J.K. Rowling.
Here is the LM to visit Goblins Knob – another must-visit destination we highly recommend you for your Christmas in Second Life.
