Rebel Yell – #1 SL Entertainment Tribute Company
Second Life entertainment industry provides so much to the residents of this virtual world: a unique blend of virtual entertainment, bringing together music enthusiasts from around the world. Whether you’re a fan of retro, classic rock, pop, musical or any other genre, Second Life has something for everyone. From thematic events, plays, festivals – to – dance performances, tribute concerts or musicals – they all create a complex and varied virtual entertainment.
A successful tribute band combines attention to detail and a genuine love for the original artist’s work. And for 13 years, Maksim Byriukov (GuiltyAngel Rhapsody) has been writing the success story of REBEL YELL, the largest entertainment company in SL with over 4400 MEMBERS in the group + hundreds of o’matic subscriber members (the largest fan base for a SL Tribute Company).
At 30 years, Maksim Byriukov (GuiltyAngel Rhapsody) is living a success story born from his love for art. After creating his own path in real life as a lawyer, he then chose Second Life for his artistic fulfillment.
In 2012 he started performing tribute concerts, but soon after that he wanted to express his artistic vision through his own shows. On January 1, 2012 he put together his love for music, concerts and theater plays and founded REBEL YELL CONCERTS, an ambitious project that would become, after 10 years of activity, the biggest fan base in SL, winning 10 GOLD AVICHOICE AWARDS, a GOLD NEW YORK AWARD, THE VOICE AWARD and 2 OUTSTANDING BAND AWARDS.
To get there, Maksim embraced every challenge, explored and learned about everything that Second Life can offer to take the entertainment experience as high as possible. His passion, creativity and dedication ensure that his shows are not just concerts, but unforgettable experiences that leave a lasting impression on all who attend.
“Rebel Yell Concerts celebrated its 13th anniversary in January 2024. 13 years of entertainment and music and it’s still like the first days for me: nervous and energized, but also excited and amused. If you want to do a good job, you have to continue this tension and nervousness forever.” – Maksim Byriukov (GuiltyAngel Rhapsody), producer and owner of Rebel Yell Concerts
REBEL YELL CONCERTS has been recognized for producing the best and most realistic Second Life tribute shows. ABBA, Billy Idol, Bruce Springsteen, Depeche Mode, Nightwish, U2, Queen, Tina Turner, Pink, Madonna, GREASE the Musical, The Greatest Showman, Michael Jackson, Rolling Stones and Stevie Ray Vaughan are just a few names among the long list of spectacular shows they have given so far. With their passion for music and their artistic madness to create beyond the limits, Rebel Yell is a reference in the world of Second Life Entertainment.
The attention to details and seriousness of their work is reflected in every performance. From the songs selection to costumes and stage design, every aspect contributes to the overall impact. I asked GuiltyAngel how he managed to maintain these standards and what he relies on in this successful journey, and he shared a few golden tips – really useful if you are thinking of starting your own events in Second Life. Here they are:
What would be the 3 most important things to avoid and the 3 most important things to focus on
“Things to avoid in my opinion are: 1. Dancing while playing an instrument unless you have seen the artist do that in RL (Prince does it for example); 2. Always stay in the same place during the entire show, unless the singer does this (someone who sings and plays the guitar for example); 3. Use the same animation throughout the show.
It is important to: 1. Focus on respecting the artist; 2. People want to see you as similar to the artist RL as possible; 3. If you’ve never seen it live, watch a concert on YouTube and try to resemble the artists “moves“. – Maksim Byriukov (GuiltyAngel Rhapsody), producer and owner of Rebel Yell Concerts
“The more realistic – the better here”
There may not be a recipe for success, but constant work and dedication are a part of it. As GuiltyAngel testified for “By Moga SL“, he never gave up at the first obstacle – on the contrary – he was willing to learn how to build in SL, “trying to break limits and being better, creating always better and advanced shows”.
If you haven’t been to one of their concerts yet, I strongly recommend to do this. It will be an experience to remember.
