SIMURG – Embracing Seasonal Renewal in Second Life
Do you remember the beautifully illustrated landscapes in warm, vintage hues that we used to send to our loved ones while on vacation? Or the charming and elegant posters from the late 19th and early 20th centuries that modern designs often aspire to reproduce? That’s what I thought about when me and my love first visited this land. A place of well-being and tranquility, certainly an ideal destination for one of your Christmas evenings, whether you want some time alone with yourself, a quiet evening with your partner away from the hustle and bustle, or a relaxing afternoon with friends.
As you already know from my previous articles, when I visit places that impress me I also like to meet their creators and to learn at least a little bit about the story behind the project. So i had the pleasure to have a chat with Lintu (KorppiLintu Resident) and that’s how I found out that, beyond the beauty of the landscapes, lies the touching idea of giving, of always replacing the past with what comes new and with new hopes. “Simurg” means Phoenix and reflects a new design to rebirth itself every season: “I designed Simurg, which is reborn from its ashes in this new year, aiming to be a peaceful, fairy, cozy place where everyone can feel at home. I have a very small parcel but I tried to create usable areas as much as possible in this small area.” Lintu (KorppiLintu Resident)
“Simurg” land is updated and configured periodically, and they are doing this since 2 years already. They started in 2022 with Winter in Simurg, then Simurg Chillout Garden, Simurg Underwater, Simurg Halloween, Simurg Autumn and Simurg Winter Valley in 2023, and for 2024 they built Simurg Ancient City and Simurg Christmas Spirit. For next year, Lintu is thinking of a romantic and lively concept for spring and Valentine’s Day towards the end of January. So we will go back and share more about their future work very soon!
The place is particularly welcoming. The entire area is illuminated by soft, glowing lights, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The main idea that every season is brought back to life serves as a constant reminder of the power of transformation and the beauty that can arise from even the darkest of times. For me, Simurg is a place that enriches Second Life Destinations even more.
Until the snow melts and spring returns with its procession of bright colors and celebrations of love, you can see pictures from older projects of Simurg on their Flickr page.
Here is the LM to visit SIMURG – another must-visit destination we highly recommend you for your Christmas in Second Life.
